When you get dressed in the morning, do you find yourself grabbing those same jeans or goes-with-everything skirt, and pairing it with that trusty old sweater (which you own in multiples because it means you can just pull it on without needing to think)?
Are your clothes on an unconscious rota which you only discover when you suddenly look down at yourself in the middle of your Wednesday workday and realize you've been wearing the same outfit every Wednesday for the past 3 weeks?
Are you just plain sick and tired of the clothes you've been wearing and feel like you need a change?
If so, you may be in a style rut. If you've been relying on the same clothes, the same outfits, the same look, without changing it up... it's time to break free!
I confess to recently having been in a style rut. I had put on some winter weight*... and then I had put on some more winter weight... and then to that extra weight, I added even more winter weight. As a result, only a small percentage of the clothing in my wardrobe fit me, and I kept relying on the same clothes. Not only was I physically uncomfortable with the extra weight, I was also self-conscious about it. Choosing my clothes in the morning became such a chore and I became so bored of my limited available options.
Maybe you're stuck in a rut because you (like I was, at my winter weight) aren't fully comfortable with your body and don't want to draw attention to it. Or maybe you've been under a lot of stress and the last thing you need to think about is what you're going to wear. Perhaps you... Just... Can't... Find... Anything... you like in clothing stores, even though you've spent hours looking.
Whatever the reason for it, getting out of the rut will have a positive impact on your life in more ways than one. It will lift your spirits. It will make you happier. It will make you feel better about yourself. And it may be as easy, and as simple, as adding a pop of color, or a new accessory, or a print you wouldn't normally wear, or possibly a shiny (or matte!) new material that makes you happy. It can be deciding to wear a dress you've been saving for a special occasion, instead of your uniform of jeans and Ts. There are any number of ways you can switch things up and get out of your rut!
And as always, if you'd like some help with that, it's what I'm here for.
